I was just talking with Gilberto (Sombro), a former mayor of La Manzanilla. He says the 2 younger boys are from good Manzanillo families with money, and they had well-paying jobs in the port in Manzanillo unloading container ships from China.

He wants people to know that the older boy is the son of his new wife, not his own son, and this boy had just got out of a drug rehab program for addiction to smoking crystal meth. It obviously didn't work for him, and he got involved with some bad characters.

As expected, it seems crystal meth is behind these robberies. The same crystal meth that causes these problems back in El Norte. The problem with jail is, there are probably more drugs in jail, than on the outside.

Unfortunately, these boys could indeed be behind bars for a long time - perhaps years. Gilberto says they need to pay money to have the term of their incarceration shortened, and it seems that may not be forthcoming.
