I'm not a big truster of Microsoft. AVG has a good anti-virus program. Go to Download.com . It's usually the number 1 download. I tutor people in computers and I've not known one person who uses it to have a virus.

So, why do they do it? Well, to get their name established against the behemoth of Norton, I guess and you can upgrade it which shouldn't be necessary.
