Sneaky August thunderstorm...

Checked the satellite last night before I went to bed and there were no blobs, red or otherwise, so thought it would be another no-rain night. Wrong! A small thunderstorm developed offshore in the early morning hours, then came onshore by 2:30 AM or so and dumped almost an inch of rain on us - .95/inch to be exact. Much cooler this morning as a result. CNA's 9AM report predicts 80% chance of rain (their normal summer prediction) but with 25 to 35 kph winds this afternoon, so probably no rain again until after the wind stops. Isn't it amazing how the August fiesta is very rarely affected by bad weather, and how the rain seems to happen in between processions and rocket blasts?? Hmmm....... |
