Driving from Lukeville AZ

We are driving to La Manz the end of Oct and crossing the border at Lukeville, AZ/Sonoyta MEX. Has anyone driven Hwy 2 from Sonoyta to Hwy 15? Are there gas stations--we get about 200 miles a tank. Are there motels with "secure" parking? How is the road? How long does it take to get to Hermosillo? What is the trip like after Hermosillo?
