I purchased a used TELCEL USB unit for my computer thinking it would work at my home on the mountain. I can see the cell tower from my patio. It did not work but did work in the Melaque area.

I talked with a couple who lived on the beach last winter not too far from the tower and they also did not have any luck with this type of delivery system.

I sold my USB unit to folks who live by the intersection of HWY 200 and 80 because they said that their cell phones would not work well there. They told me that the USB unit worked great with their computer where they live.

A friend told me that the cell signal in LM is 3E and not 3G and does not do well with receiving Internet signals via a cell phone set or computer.

A rumor last season was that Slim bought the Tamarindo hotel property if true, this may result in a better signal in the LM area.
