I want to thank all those who responded. It seems no one has tried to do what I am looking for and I don't want to get a cell phone plan so I can pay 500p for an internet plan.

To recap; my preference would be to have internet on my computer (Mac Mini) or, secondly, my iPad. Another option may be to bring a pair of WIFI transceivers with directional antennas and find someone willing to share their connection.

I guess my best bet is to bring my old satellite dish and investigate options for the future. Needless to say, I will post my results...
