Thanks Kate for your post. Yes, there are a lot of un-neutered/un-spayed young dogs running around town . And Yes TVT, Transmissible Venereal Tumors, are a huge problem. A couple of years ago we were seeing less and less , but there is an outbreak caused by either infected males or females. All it takes is once(and one male) and it spreads like wildfire. It's extremely painful and a mess since the area of the tumor bleeds all the time.
Please keep a look out and let me know if you see any males with swollen penises or females with red back ends. A male can even get it in his nose by smelling an infected female. I will more that happily find the owners and talk to them about getting help for their infected animals.
The clinic in Melaque is December 2nd-6th and La Manz February 10-14th.
