usually its a pluged up converter. Simple fix to get the light off or pass smog. Put trans in 1st gear and run up the hightest grade you have so the engine heat up and burns out the crap in the converter. Also turn up the air to max as it will heat up even more. Should solve the problem. Another is take the gas cap of and re-tighten. A loose cap will put that light on.
