Saving Trees

There is a threat to most of our local trees from a pest plant that invades from the top. My friends call it mal ojo and it is in many of the most beautiful old trees as well as citrus trees.
If we could find a non toxic solution it would be helpful. Do we have any arborists or researchers who could guide us?
