Such materials are probably removed before shipped to wherever the end market is (probably China). In any event, contamination is a bad thing. When more labor is required to remove contaminants, it decreases the value of recyclable plastics, which is low enough as it is. It would be a pity for the local recycling program to fail because of recycling economics. |
The materials of which you speak are usually left in the bottom of the bins in La Manz when the recyclable plastic is emptied. I pull such materials out when I pass by bins on litter patrol. I only doing that for 4 bins in town, because they are on my regular litter patrol routes.
