Such materials are probably removed before shipped to wherever the end market is (probably China). In any event, contamination is a bad thing. When more labor is required to remove contaminants, it decreases the value of recyclable plastics, which is low enough as it is. It would be a pity for the local recycling program to fail because of recycling economics. The materials of which you speak are usually left in the bottom of the bins in La Manz when the recyclable plastic is emptied. I pull such materials out when I pass by bins on litter patrol. I only doing that for 4 bins in town, because they are on my regular litter patrol routes. |
