Learn to Play Guitar (and Practice English!) with Myranda (January, 2012) Who: students in Grades 5 and up plus beginner adults Class size: spaces for 7 students with rental guitars; open to everyone who has their own guitar When: Wednesdays at 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm Duration: 7 weeks, 1 lesson per week plus talent show evening Where: La Catalina Foundation Building Start date: Wednesday Jan. 11, 2012 End Date: Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012 Cost: $70 (pesos) for 7 lessons Guitar Rental: $30 (pesos) Guitar Rental (Handmade Acoustic Guitars from Paracho, MX) What you will learn:  how to tune and care for your instrument  correct posture and hand positioning  how to read a chord chart  major chords for 4 keys: C, D,A,G  basic strumming patterns  strumming patterns with flat pick and fingerpick  Circle of Fifths and how to use it to transpose keys  major 7th chords: G7, A7, D7,E7  minor chords Em, Am  words and melodies to several easy-to- learn songs in English (folk, blues, country and rock and roll) SPECIAL GUESTS – some local guitar players will come to class to demonstrate their style of guitar playing – acoustic, electric and bass Your Teacher: Myranda O'Byrne, BA, Certified Teacher in BC, Canada; retired Music teacher for 25 years (children, teens, adults, seniors) Musician, composer, recording artist, singer MORE INFO: 351-5177 OR EMAIL MYRANDA
