it says: An earthquake of magnitude 6 occurred at noon on Saturday in Mapastepec, south of Mexico and near the border with Guatemala, reported the National Seismological Service.

The report explained that the tremor was recorded at 12:47 and 16 km deep and was centered 86 km southwest of Mapastepec, in the state of Chiapas, a town of nearly 51,000 inhabitants in the Pacific coast.

Red Cross officials in the nearby town of Tapachula indicated that there was strong movement but caused no damage, and detailed in radio communication with Mapastepec received reports of some fallen objects but not injured.

On December 10 a strong earthquake of 6.5 rocked several states of Mexico, including the capital, leaving two dead.
