Even Alaska Airlines has a pretty good deal on bringing extra baggage - it is $20 US for a 50 lb. parcel (as long as it is less than 62 united inches (length + width + height) That is much cheaper than sending anything by UPS, and it arrives with you... The customs usually doesn't give you a problem, as long as you DON"T call it a donation... it's just for your own or your family's use. It's also great to bring down a used bicycle, packed in a bike box (you get one from a bike shop) There is lots of room left in the box for other things (like ball equipment) and it will cost $50 to bring. (no limit on the weight, as it is already oversize) Bikes from the north are prized here, so you can ride it, and then donate it to an auction if you like, which is what Jacqueline does. And don't forget, you can bring a wheelchair free on any flight - then donate it here (sometimes they have them at Value Village) |
