The pristine little bay of Careyitas, just a few minutes north of the Polo sign on 200 south of Careyes is a fun trip. There is a reasonable mariscos restaurant and, on weekends, a fancy sushi and sashimi restaurant (whose prices will remind you of New York or San Francisco). Its entrance is marked by a guard house, though there is no fee for entry. It is about a 45-minute drive north of La Manzanilla. If you have the time, check out the huge vivero on the north end of Emiliano Zapata on the way back...or take the turnoff to Arroyo Seco a few kilometers south of there. There are two big beaches, one to the right and the other to the left after you go through town. We prefer the one to the left. Do NOT attempt to go swimming, however. It is very dangerous.
