I was there today around 1:15pm. There was a Mexican lady trying to help people. I assumed that she was a bank employee until her young daughter showed up. People were still having trouble with some nonBanamex cards. The "helper" was pasting clear Scotch tape over the chip area of the cards with some success. But she couldn't get the card of the guy right in front of me to work, no matter what she tried. I used my Banamex card with chip and it loaded the chip authentication without event. The new machines make lots of sexy sounds and seem to take about 30% more time to use than the older, apparently more reliable machines. There was no sign of upper management support and none of them interceded to offer condolence nor to help. So, it appeared that most nonBanamex (gringo) customers were getting money out, many after a number of tries. At least one guy was tough out of luck while I was there, however. He didn't have an alternate card, either.
