rent a car

My husband and I are visiting La Manzanilla again in March for 3 weeks. We love it there. We have had difficulty renting a car in the past at the airport as when we reserve a vehicle via the internet from home and then present the rental car agency in Mexico with our reservation with the quoted amount, the Mexican agents will not even consider the reservation. My brother reserved a car with 3 different companies represented at Manzanillo airport in January to be told by each one that they will not value their reservation. When he argued, they all spoke to each other and finally said that they had no vehicles left. Sounds like a mutual conspiracy in the industry. Sharing our rent a car stories with each other, my brother mentioned he saw a vehicle in La Manzanilla with a "For Rent" sign advertised. Has anyone had experience with the local rentals and would you please forward their name and phone number so that I may reach them? I would much rather support the local community in La Manzanilla than at the airport as long as the vehicle is registered, insured and safe. Thank you.
