It doesn't matter where you life, you just have to use some common sense. I am a substitute teacher when I am at home. The Bremerton school shooting was near my home but not a school I work in. It was an accident, but a child with a messed up homelife. There was a State Highway Patrolman killed that night during a stop on the highway within 3 miles of my hoe. The perp killed himself the next day, they have a so called serial killer with a knife running around who has killed one person and knifed two others again with in 1 to 2 miles of my home. All of this in one week in a small town of 50,000. The boy with the guy said he needed it to protect himself against the serial killer because he was planning on running away. His grandmother who had had adopted him had died of cancer. His mother had been in and out of jail for durg, using, selling, forgery, etc. So when people say you are crazy to go to Mexico, I just say checkout the police blotter in your hometown. Last summer we had a tourist knifed doing nothing but getting off a bus with his family to avoid a nut cast on the bus, who followed him off and then killed him in front of his family in downtown Seattle. I wonder if that made the news in Mexico. My community has over 32 unsolved murders, yes over a period of 30 years but more of them are in the last 10 years or so.
Bad things can happen anywhere.
