I got some information and experience with this a few days ago. Before I send this on to my next visitor, I would appreciate any more comments, ideas about other buses, etc. - thanks! We went out to the Central des Camiones, not far from the airport, and took a Futura bus which left PV at 1:00 PM. It was very clean and comfortable with good bathrooms and a movie running all the time. It was better than riding in a car, as you don't feel all the speed bumps and vibradores! Before we boarded, we asked the driver if he would let us off at the crucero (where the road takes you in to La Manzanilla), and he agreed. (They don’t have to let you, so you might want to offer him 20 pesos ahead of time…cause then you don’t have to go to Melaque and get a taxi all the way back). Another option is to take Primera Plus, and then you can get it at the corner of Venustiano Carranza and Aguacate (in Old Vallarta, so you don’t have to travel north to the station and then back track). At the PP ticket counter, they said you could buy the ticket right there at the pick-up place before boarding the bus. I think it leaves the station at 12:15, so you can catch it at that pick-up place around 12:40 or so - but be early. http://maps.google.ca/maps?
