Re: Staying Longer?

We flew down on a charter into PV. Before our departure from MX, we will have stayed just under the 180 days. When we arrived at PV airport in Nov., we presented our passport (CND) AND our FM3 card to MX customs (at the time our plans were to perhaps stay for longer than 6 months).

Because we arrived on a charter, the airport staff foist that tourist card on you and demand you fill out - and in all the hallabaloo at the airport (we were also travelling with a dog in a crate) we did.

The customs officer became very irate. Seriously frowning, the officer waved our tourist cards in our face and kept them! I asked what the problem was - he was very unhelpful and scribbled 'NO CHACO SALIDA' in our passports. Part of the problem could have been that he seemed to only speak spanish... and my limited spanish at that point totally disappeared from my vocabulary (stress). I did pick up the word 'fine'. There were several custom agents at that counter at the time, all part of this conversation, and not one offered to explain the problem.

We are departing from PV (with dog in crate) at end of April (under the 180 days)... should we be going to the immigration at the airport? I know that many times, the immigration office IS NOT OPEN!

From comments on this posting, it seems that we're okay because of the 180 days. I will be bringing along out Nov. boarding passes to show proof, just in case. Where did we go wrong? Anyone further suggestions on what we should be doing? And, what does 'NO CHACO SALIDA' mean? Gracias)!
