For those who know "Lady" Cynthia and have missed her even as she has missed you. this is an update of her 4 month recovery from a burst duodenal ulcer. .
For the last month,Cynthia has been in a rehabilitation facility in London's St. Pancras Hospital- the ulcer being now healed.

Yesterday there was a meeting of her Physio and Occupational therapists and principal nurse, representatives of Social; Services, my Sister-in-law, Adella, our son Dave, Cynthia and me.The up shot is that Cynthia will leave the Rehab facility and go to a "re-ablement" home as soon as a place can be found for her. It's hoped that will be next week or so. This is described as a halfway house whose purpose is to continue the physical and confidence strengthening, but also to reacquaint her with living in the real world before actually returning to that world on her own. She'll have her own room and be encouraged to go out and about with me and friends but to have whatever professional support she might feel she needs should she feel she needs it.

Really, she's made wonderful progress and now can walk pretty much unaided on her own using a walking stick. Legs not yet all that strong and balance not yet back to pre 2/1/2 months-in-bed condition, but getting better and more solid with the passing days. Cynthia is very determined to get back to the way she used to be...and when she makes up her mind to do something she diligently works at it. The staff at Rehab are very pleased with her progress which is most encouraging to Cynthia...and success breeds success.

Needless to say, we- the family are all much impressed ...and very grateful for the care and attention Cynthia- and we have received during this long, distressing episode. It's not yet over, but - to borrow from Mr. Churchill- it looks like we can safely say that we are more than at the end of the beginning; and now much more at the beginning of the end of this ordeal.

Of course we both have missed our La Manzanz family of friends, our house on the hill and the folks who keep it in good shape, the sunsets, the 0600 rocket booms twice a year; everything and everybody in our pueblocita.... and we realize that it will still be some considerable time before we can return, but return we definitely will. But for now, we're Londoners.
