Thank you to Noemi, Noe,Vidal and all the volunteers of Proteccion Civil whose efforts help, even save, us, the locals, expats and tourists, when we have an emergency. What Noemi refers to in the above message is a public meeting in the jardin with La Huerta president. At the meeting, spearheaded by Stephanie and others to get mainly police protection and services after a rash of burglaries, el Presidente, amongst several promises, said that LM would be receiving an ambulance within a week or two. This was back in December or January. So far nothing has materialized, meaning a medical vehicle. So Proteccion Civil has to rely on Vidal's pickup, which has provided a lot of service to date but who knows how long it will survive. Noemi's and the volunteers wish and intent has long been to see LM with its own ambulance and equipment to better provide medical aide when necessary. I can tell Noemi and crew that our Proteccion Civil committee, headed by Dan C., will continue to hound 'el presidente' until he comes through or we go back to our original plan of acquiring our own ambulance. SI SE PUEDE, Cruz PS: LM, with its expat community and building, provides a great deal of revenue for the Municipio of La Huerta. We deserve ambulance protection and to keep our former gasoline ration which lately has been reduced. |
