The new turbines run only on natural gas, they are not dual fuel. Also the new (converted) turbines generate almost double the electrical output, so it is unlikely there will be a shortage. There are three of the six units that are converted and ready to come on line when the first ship arrives. The ship is currently scheduled for 21 Mar and President Calderon is scheduled to arrive on 28 Mar to inaugurate the LNG plant. I am sure there will be a testing period with the recently converted units before they take the remaining unconverted 3 units offline. I haven't read anything in the paper that predicts when that will happen. Yes it is close. |
