"Fine line of civilization, my friend". Probably is a fine line, just makes it all the more challenging to get it into perspective. "Where do you draw the line for dog shit on the beach?" Please don't go there, hopefully that is a totally different topic. "Where do you accept others notions that its not okay to fly down the beach, hammered, in your jeep, shouting at the moon?" Actually I have done that (and you could add to the crazy but I won't go there) and loved the freedom. It will always be a highlight of my life and a reference point for my definition of freedom. Point is I didn't hurt anyone. "Good on you for raising your complaint, acknowledging that the situation is what it is, and feeling better about it after having done *something*". The situation persist, I watch myself go back and forth between it being to much and it being nothing. "I think your response to the sitch shows that you are not, in fact, any longer a gringo. Congratulations". I came to Mexico from the freeway's of LA, cell phone and pagers, quite distracted in contrast to the pace of La Manzanilla. I notice a change after 6 months, a bigger change after a year, then the changes continued on a more gradual level, but still noticed and appreciated. It feels like the expression of the situation is asking for some kind of Zen answer. It's actually both a real pressing situation and just a topic of casual conversation. I will accept your compliment but hope the conversation goes beyond being about me, it is about us, everyone on the planet. |
