As an architect, Gaudi is one of my favorites. I have had two Spanish architects work for me, and have had incredible tours of Barcelona with them over the years. On our last trip there we had arranged for an apartment near Sagrada Familia which was in a challenging neighborhood (puke, urine, and? on the sidewalk). The taxi driver would not let us wait there until the manager arrived and deposited us at a neighborhood tapas bar to wait. When the manager arrived we took the elevator up to our room, which was absolutely magnificent, and he said wait, this was his favorite apartment... and opened the curtains. Our view was through a courtyard directly to Sagrada Familia which had very dramatic and magnificent lighting. We dropped our bags and ran to the cathedral for a very memorable experience. |
