It's still a day and a half or more before its predicted closest approach, but Hurricane Bud is now predicted to peak as a Cat 2 hurricane before it weakens back to a tropical storm before its closest approach to us on Friday night / Saturday morning. It is still expected to turn around without making landfall, amazingly. If it doesn't turn around, we could get more winds and rain than predicted. But keep in mind it's not supposed to be a hurricane anymore as it nears the coast, so it shouldn't be nearly as dangerous as Jova was. It may be broader than Jova though, so its effects could cover more area.

Our coast from Punta San Telmo in Michoacan to La Fortuna just north of Chamela is under a Tropical Storm Warning: TS winds (39-73 MPH) are EXPECTED, SOMEWHERE in the warning area within 36 hrs.

The same strech of coast is also under a Hurricane Watch: hurricane winds ( >73 MPH) are POSSIBLE, SOMEWHERE in the watch area within 48 hrs.

Whatever winds we are getting are expected to arrive late Friday. They might not last more than overnight if the storm weakens and turns around like predicted.

Rains are predicted to be 4-6 inches, with isolated amounts up to 10", all along the coasts of Michoacan, Colima, Jalisco.

I'll try to keep up with the NHC updates as it draws closer.
