Baseball WindUp Day & ThankYou

Hello Everyone!! I just wanted to express my heartfelt THANK YOU to all the people who made La Manzanilla Beisbol League exist. When we started playing last fall, we had a bat, a ball and 3 bricks for bases. Thankyou to all the folks who brought down equipment, shoes, jerseys etc. We were able to outfit two full teams, and more. No child had to be turned away from playing because of lack of equipment. And believe me --new kids came out each week. No child had to play barefoot because they couldn't afford to buy a pair of running shoes. Thankyou to all the folks who helped coach, and umpire the games--Scotty, Robin, Randy, Bruno, Jerry, Felipe, Andy, and those who came out to watch & cheer the kids on! You have no idea how much the kids appreciated your help, encouragement and interest in them. Thankyou to all the folks who bought raffle tickets, and to Scott Turner and his musician friends who donated their tips from the music evenings at Palapa Joe's etc. With the money that was raised from these efforts we were able to purchase baseball caps with the leaque logo for each child to keep. These were presented to the kids on Wind Up day, along with a certificate of accomplishment. How I wish you all could have been here to see the look of awe and then pride on each and every one of the 35 faces of those kids, and the smiles on their parents faces as well!!! Wind Up Day was a completely WONDERFUL!! event. It was the perfect way to end the season for this year. It was held on Sunday, June 24. The parents were invited to come out to watch their children in action. Most of the parents had not been able to come out earlier in the season due to work--but believe me they came out on Sunday--parents, grandparents, aunts & uncles!!! "All Star" competitions were held, and then the game started, which ended with a tie--how fitting for the last one of the season!! After the game, everyone was treated to hot dogs, cupcakes and cold pop by funds raised by the Baseball League. As we collect the pictures and videos taken that day we will post on the message board and also on the La Manzanilla Beisbol page on FaceBook. So again THANK YOU TO ONE & ALL--it couldn't have been possible with out you!! See you in the fall. Patti
