Aloha,

We here on the Big Island of Hawaii have a large % of homes whose only water is catchment. It works great but filters are a absolute neccessity to eliminate all possible pathogens. You know stuff like bird poop, rat poop, burnt stuff landing on roof, roof decomposing material and mosquito larva, ect. But with a good filter and even ultraviolet it all is a very good way to go . But we do get over a 100 inches a year here so for us the cost makes sense.
