Hi folks, hope you are all well and enjoying your summer in all of your "other" homes. Any of you that know me, know that I am involved (that's an understatement lol) with the La Manzanilla Baseball league. We had our wind up day in June and about 50 parents, grandparents and assorted other relatives of our players come out and everyone had a great time. Abel Bromeli, the gentleman in charge of the Children's Art Program and his wife were in attendance. His son Ulysses is the star pitcher for the Tigers, and his neice also plays on the team. He and I got to talking and we have an idea that we would like to put to the artists and to the art commitee. We would like to get the children in the art program involved in painting a new mural on the entrance to the Sports Field. Actually we would like to get the community involved. I don't think that the Ejido would object to getting the front of the gates refreshed, and I'm sure that the kids in the Art Program would gain a sense of pride, involment, and accomplishment in themselves and their pueblo. This project of a mural is WAY WAY WAY beyond my painting (dabbling) talents, and Abel also agrees that expert help is needed in this. So I'm asking that you all think about this, and perhaps some of you could share your talent, experience, advice, and encouragement to the kids. Patti |
