Finally some rain!

Man was THAT long overdue! A noisy series of thunderstorms starting around 5:30 and still not quite done, bringing steady cooling rain of 0.65" so far. Yummy!

The GOES Satellite loop (http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/west/epac/flash-avn.html) shows BIG blobs all along the coast for hundreds of miles. It's not any kind of tropical storm system (nothing brewing for us any time soon.)

The boffins at the NHC (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/refresh/MIATWDEP+shtml/) do mention a tropical wave (the 1st one in their list) is grazing our coastline in conjunction with upper level "diffluence" or spreading air currents is contributing to this convection (thunderstorms.)
