I, too, am really enjoying the different points of view on this subject. It seems to me that resentment over the idea of "developers" targeting La Manzanilla is that development is for speculation and profit. There is little thought for the preservation of community. I do not think, based on my experience, that the people of LM want to pull up the draw bridge. I found nothing but a welcoming encouragement when I was trying to find a way to be part of things there whether by buying or building. "Come and join us" was the response I received from everyone. It is the anonymity of the developer and distrust of motives that strikes fear into the hearts of LM residents, and rightly so.
