Daniel, I like your idea: 12 8 18 it is!

It brought another round of loud thunder and heavy rains last night after 11:30. Saturday's midnight-midnight total was 6.16", and yesterday's was 3.74" by midnight. After midnight another 1.88" fell so far today. Storm total so far: 11.78", mostly in about 35 hrs!

I haven't walked around town much since most of this fell, but here's what I know. The steep street behind the church is somewhat eroded, but most of its rocks and mud was trapped behind the tope next to the church. Main street in front of the Jardin isn't too bad; some mud but walkable. The new drain into the arroyo works well, and the newly-inclined short street in front Cafe Risa doesn't get swamped with standing water and mud anymore.

The arroyo is flowing moderately out into the bay, carrying lots of muddy water. Anyone know if it's crossable below the emergency bridge? Probably not yet.

Don't know about the lagoon, but I'm sure the pitiful provisional road across the lagoon extension must be well under water or broached by now. It was almost under water last week BEFORE the big rains. No driving the direct way to Fiesta Mexicana for a while...

Ha anyone seen Calle Perula Sur (above the Galleria) yet: did it turn into another several-foot-deep canyon again?

I think the last month or so of dry conditions helped a lot of this rain sink in at first. If we get another 12" soon, the story will be worse.
