It's around 1100 miles from Nogales to La Manzanilla via the toll roads, not 2300 (was that round trip, Erin?) The last time we used the toll route, it took us about 28 driving hours. That's two really long days; I'd recommend 3 days for more safety and comfort. In Mexico you really don't want to drive after dark, or even near dusk. Breaking the trip into 3 days puts you around Ciudad Obregon or Navajoa the first night and Mazatlan the 2nd. You get to Mazatlan a little early, but there isn't much lodging another hour or two farther south. We stay in a low-grade motel in Navajoa for 300 pesos, then we tent camp the 2nd night well south of Mazatlan at a friend's beach restaurant (so I can't help you with Mazatlan lodging.) Let me know if you want more info on the Navajoa motel. Have a safe trip! |
