I think it is important to understand the politics implicit in these politically motivated articles before assuming they are telling you anything unbiased....

There is also a growing belief among some that Mexican drug lords and their families are now living in the US where they are very successfully gaining the support of local politicians through donating heavily to various campaigns. (I heard this from a former undercover narc).

The beat goes on... as we try to answer the question, what is the difference between a PAC or think tank funded by the Koch brothers to push anti-environmental (and anti-financial) regulations and a bribe paid to a local Mexican police officer -- with the answer that while both work very effectively, the bribe costs a lot less and can work for an individual without lots of money.

Yet another instance in which the Mexican democracy outshines its northern neighbors...lol!
