This description of "local" folks getting priced out of an improving market takes place anywhere in the world there is development and economic growth and/or in an area that has qualities that are attractive to outsiders with resources. It happens in urban areas to be closer to the economic activity.
Interestingly enough, it usually happens in other areas that have more visual/activity appeal rather than that just flat farm land. It happens a lot around water, shorelines and mountains.

One of the things that I understand about LM and the ejidol is that any local person has or can have land. It might not be on the beach, but they are not 'priced' out of the market because of gringos coming into town with pockets full of cash.
