There was a movie made about this Battallion. I saw it about 2 years ago. It starred Tom Berenger. It was excellant!! I never knew about this, we were never taught much about Mexico up there in Canada, apart from Cortez.

The Irish soldiers were treated absolutely horrible in the U.S. Army. It is no wonder so many of them deserted and came to Mexico. I will try to find out the name of the movie.
