I looked at the link you posted ,esmitty, and unfortunately, it doesn't seem to give the actual name - and this one http://www.calflora.net/bloomingplants/purslane.html is called portulaca olaracea. There are a few plants with the nickname pigweed, and that article you mentioned should have been more specific if they don't want to misinform their readers. It must be this: http://www.lsuagcenter.com/news_archive/2012/july/headline_news/Pigweed-epidemic-calls-for-strategic-weed-control-in-Louisiana-soybeans-cotton.htm (another "pigweed" also called Palmer amaranth) Of course, I was also advised to plant amaranth, another nutritious green that is very popular in Mexico... hmmm ...isn't life interesting? |
