A big ditto on Larry's comment. Over the last 25 years I have diven that route(Seattle; Boise; Salt Lake; Ceadar City,Ut; Page,AZ; flagstaff; Phoenix; Nogales) to and from either Tucson or La Manz. Maybe once or twice was there a little delay resulting in more of an adventure than a problem. I-5 is very busy almost all the way now from Seattle to L.A. Sacramento to LA is nightmareish(just drove it) No traffic on the the other route( all interstate with about 200 miles of good 2 lane trafficless HWY) and and the scenery is out of the National Geograhic. If you have an extra few hours, a side trip through Zion National Park is awesome. It looks longer on the map but strangely it is exactually 1640 miles from Seattle to Tucson by either route. Have a safe trip which ever way you go.
