D, I think the idea was to save time in the summer so there would have more of it available during the winter when people were to busy to save time. That way, after a hard days work on the beach, there would be more time for T, frisbee, watching the sunset and a walk on the beach with the 4 legged creatures! At least that is my take on the DST situation.
