I think not, Jim. All they need is a La Manzanilla phone book. It happened to me last year but as I don't have a phone it was a drunk guy mumbling the exact same threats to me face to face at 5pm on a Friday near Calle Boca del Rio. He threatened to kill me and the other gringas or get us deported. I mentioned it to the mayor, Raymundo, but he laughed saying the guy was harmless.
