Phone cards

Query number two from the newbies in town....can anyone recommend a calling card or alternative cheap means of calling Europe?

I have used Skype and Googletalk but that's not much good for calls to regular phones. There seem a million options but figuring out the cheapest is a nightmare - it's quite difficult to actually find out rates.
