The new special project of my non-profit organization, Tierralegre, A.C., is to build a Youth Ecology and Sustainability (YES!) Center here in La Manzanilla. This is in accordance with our mission to foment sustainable solutions and ecological literacy in Mexico. We are working with about 60 students from all grade levels of the Telesecundaria School in La Manzanilla. We are realizing this project on La Manzanilla Ejido land designated for the schools and education purposes. The main thrust of the project at this moment is to get the organic garden going. We´ve been working hard getting the land ready to plant this past week (see photo) and we will soon need to create borders around the beds. Wine bottles and other similar-sized bottles (e.g., liquor or otherwise) work quite well, but please NO BEER BOTTLES--they are not big enough unless they are the caguama-sized one, in which case we can use them.

You can drop off bottles next to the bamboo water tower structure we´ve begun building there. To find the location, when you´re heading into town on the main road, a couple blocks before you get to the secondary school, you´ll see the street sign on your right for Calle Ignacio Garcia, and you´ll also see a sign next to it that says "Taller Mecánico". It´s the same street that "Doghouse John" lives on. Head down that street and keep going until you run into the cleared-out area with palm stumps scattered around where it´s obvious that a garden is being constructed.

I´ll post another message when we´ve received enough bottles to surround the beds. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for your support!
