Hi Linda!

I recently brought a car from the US and am currently in the process of getting my temporary residency card. I have done extensive research as I only have 30 days on my TIP and have paid a deposit. Yesterday, I went to the Aduana in Manzanillo and got the "Aviso de Perroga, ampliacion, refrendo o cambia de Calidad Migratoria" form and, as you know, I need to go to the office every year to renew.

My friends, Rich and Wendy, are in the same boat as you mention. I sent him the below article. Rich says at this point it reminds him of why he doesn't need to worry about it at present, and he will just keep a copy of article 106 and a copy of his FM3 in the car.

As this moment, Rolly is reporting that the regulations are now in flux, nothing has been determined at present, and new regulations will be issued by the Aduana to see how older cars imported before 2011 regulation change will conform with the new regulations. He will report any changes on his site (I found a lot of his info helpful.) It is my understanding, from all I have read, that the info you seek has not been determined as yet. Will let you know if if I find out anything else. Some sites are saying it is wise to go to Aduana and get the letter to attach (which lasts as long as FM2/3 is issued for.) It was an easy process and costs nothing except some time. Good luck to us all
