Just an update…the scholarship kids voted on how to use the funds they raised from the pinatas and earrings they made and sold. As there has been a problem with kids getting in to the lot where the Educational Center is after hours and doing graffiti on the walls, the scholarship students felt it was top priority to put a gate that could be locked to prevent people from getting in at night. Two boys, Abraham & Jose Adalberto, volunteered to do the work themselves, so the cost to install the gate was only 150 pesos!

The second priority they chose to put their money towards was to get sinks for the bathroom. Currently, there is only a hose outside so the kids have to wash their hands with this outside faucet. So the students put the remaining 2850 pesos to buy two ceramic sink bowls and mortar. We are currently trying to raise the funds to build the concrete counter and wooden doors to complete the sinks.

The next fundraising project the scholarship kids will be participating in is making a video which they will use to try to get computers donated for the lab at the Educational Center. They will send their video off to a few corporations in Mexico and the U.S. Thanks to Jacqueline, Debbie, David, Peter, Patrick, Mayan, Miriam, Rodrigo & June for helping with this!
