http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=GBaHPND2QJg&feature=youtu.be I've never done this before so hope it works. This is one of those occasions on which an orchestra and choir gradually converge on a square--in this case in Spain--and an appreciative and surprised audience gathers for this unexpected concert. I particularly loved watching the children. It brings to mind the Symphony Splash which takes place the first Sunday of August each year in Victoria. A barge is brought into the Inner Harbour, and tens of thousands of spectators come to enjoy an evening of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra. People observe from boats of every imaginable kind, from surf boards and canoes, from nearby buildings, from the lawns of the Empress Hotel and the legislature building, and from lawn chairs they bring from home. It's a wonderful evening--marked especially by the peacefulness of such a huge number of people in one place at one time. The evening concludes with the 1812 Overture including canonfire and fireworks! Spectacular! Happy B.C. Day! |
