The horse may not be totally dead yet. Daniel hit on something: there are those of us who don't speak because we fear a disrespectful response. We just read. The board rules talk about no hatred or obscenities but no mention of please be respectful of other opinions.

My opinion re taxes/funding/community. The longest I've stayed in LaManzanilla is three months. I consider myself a member of the community and a tourist. I am only passing through and , yes, I am a guest here, a transient fun seeker. But I want to pay my way. I like the method of fund raising and donation to help fund many of the programs we read about. With voluntary donation each can give to his/er ability to the project he/she feels most important at the time. I have my favorite projects I donate to every year. I especially like to donate when entertainment or a fiesta is envolved. I participate when my neighbors have medical needs. Many permanent residents don't buy medical insurance and I feel like I am community when I make that kind of donation. I donate what I want when I want; the system works for me. I like the bookstore. I donate books and magazines. I buy books and magazines rather than donate cash. Works for me. I donate cash to other programs and pledge to the ambulance program. I don't mind donating to a service I hope to never use. You can ride, I'll donate. I like donations over taxes because I get to decide what I can pay and you decide what you can pay.

Thank you all who work on the many projects. I respectfully rest my case.
