Well said, Sylvia. You can get a panga at Restaurant Cato; Cato and Lola had a restaurant at Tenacatita for many years and were evicted along with everyone else on Aug. 4, 2010. Arturo or Ever will be happy to accommodate you.

The police have a list of people who are not allowed past the gate, including many from El Rebalsito. They can take photos of people on the beach (they can, but you can't) and then show how the beach is "open". People from Guadalajara come and say they saw it on TV, that the beach is open. Then they get here and often aren't allowed through the gate. Foreigners are almost always welcomed. There is no "new" owner. The gate is illegal and unconstitutional. The municipality of La Huerta has the concession to the beach.

If you want to do something to help, I suggest coming out to "la boca" - the mouth of the river Purificación) and have something to eat at Restaurants Chely or La Mosca, both of whom had restaurants at Tenacatita. It's a beautiful spot, and you can swim in the river, or just watch the waves crashing on the shore.

Or stop at Restaurant Chito, shortly before the gate, and enjoy some delicious food and a refreshingly cool breeze. Afterwards you can take a walk and see the ponds where tilapia are being raised.

And of course patronizing any of the stores in town, helps.

Thanks Traci, for your interest.
