Just to add my 2 pesos to this discussion: I was told that the size of the pinchers relative to the size of the scorpion will help you determine the toxicity of the sting. Imagine an animal with small pinchers for its size. This would indicate that the toxicity of the venom would be high ~ small pinchers won't pull their prey very far or help with the dining chores so their venom is fast acting and highly toxic. The opposite then can be said for an animal with larger pinchers per size ~ the pinchers are larger because the venom is not as toxic and they need the strength in the pinchers to render their prey edible. Whadya think?
