A friend was stung by one last week, just a spot on his hand, and almost immediately he said the pain traveled up his arm and into his lymph gland in his armpit. It lasted about 24 hours and he said it was some of the worst pain he's experienced.

He's a surfer and a doctor. He didn't use anything for treatment other than something topical which didn't work. He's fine and grateful it didn't sting his 6-year-old daughter who was swimming next to him.
