The following announcement was sent to property owners and was sent to me by a family member. I feel that residents of La Manz and visitors should be informed as to crime in the neighbouring areas:

To the Community,

I write today to inform you all of the recent issues and resolves that have occurred here at Musica.

First and most serious, was a home invasion, for lack of a better term, where the home of Don Gringas was entered by masked men with a purpose to rob, and inflict bodily harm on anyone present.

Without going into specific details, I can tell you a great physical struggle ensued, with Don and his guest being hospitalized for treatment of physical assault. The perpetrators expected to confront residents for purpose of robbery, and were prepared for this. Seeing Don yesterday, I can assure you that an assault of this nature could have been far more serious in nature for both of them. The access to Don' residence was done from a neighbouring property, but the degree of purpose of this event would not have been thwarted by any fence, wall or other deterrent.

Second, a meeting of all Isla Navidad parties was held last night at Coco Cabanas Restaurant. In attendance were the Mayor of Cihuatlan, Police Chief of Cihuatlan, representatives of City Hall, Colima Police, a representative of the Ejido El Rebalse, Tourism, local Hotel Association, and many representatives of Musica del Mar, Playa Grande, Sr. Lomeli and a reporter from a local newspaper. I apologize as I may be missing a few people.

The moderators/translators were Maria of Coco Cabanas, and Armando Ampudia, Property Manager of Musica del Mar, who organized and invited the attendees. This meeting came after, and as a result of a meeting earlier in the day between Armando, Lissandra of Playa Grande, the Mayor of Cihuatlan, and the Police Chief of Cihuatlan. The purpose was for the demand of a Police presence on the Isla for the residents and owners, and a demand for Police protection in respect of the taxes we pay, notwithstanding any Political differences between the 2 States of Colima and Jalisco over jurisdiction.

The Mayor Jesus Huerta, gave us a promise of Police presence in the form of 3 visits every night, to check in with Playa Grand Security, Musica del Mar Security, and possibly Coco Cabanas, so these visits can be logged in our Security Log.

There was further discussion regarding the financial support of the Isla community, to help the Police offer a presence, in the form of vehicles, such as motorcycles, quads, used trucks etc. that could be marked and signed as Police vehicles for use on the Isla. Discussion further continued on the use of the designated Community Police area in the northeast corner of Musica del Mar property, that has never been utilized for the purpose it was designated.

Sr. Lomeli suggested that the residents and concerned parties organize a Civil Group, that he would formalize legally, without any cost to the residents, so that a voice and pressure could be directed to City Hall and appropriate Government agencies, such as Auxilliary State Police, Federales and the Military.

As the 2 1/2 hour meeting came to a close, it was decided that the next meeting for the group would be at Coco Cabanas Restaurant on Tuesday February 12th at 1:00 pm. All attendees are welcome.

As for Musica del Mar, as one of the large stakeholders on the Isla, we have a strong investment in the future of our safety, and I am certain that we want to take an active part in this new Organization. If it decided that between ourselves and Playa Grande, we share a large proportion of interest, and we want a voice on this organization, I would allow my name to stand, or any other who is willing to allow their name to stand. I assume there would also be someone of similar stature from Playa Grande.

Lastly, I was most intrigued by the Newspaper reporters' presence, as the local community will be soon aware that the Isla is organizing themselves and demanding a Police presence, such as we have never experienced here on a permanent basis.

My last comments are to give my strongest condolences to Don Gringas and Diana for their personal violation, and hopes of quick recovery, and to thank Armando Ampudia for his direct assistance and personal involvement in both attending to Don in the Hospital, organizing the meetings with the Authorities, expressing the needs of our community and earning his salary for many months in ONE week. My thanks to our Security Manager, Pablo Sandoval who left my home at 3:00 am the morning of the incident. Truly, men of great conviction for the benefit of our community.
