I'm feeling a little run down

Tonight a little after 8 PM I was hit by a young man on a moto while I was crossing the street from Palapa Joe's on my way to Figaro's, accompanied by my friend JoAnna. He was driving very fast and couldn't avoid hitting me.
The good news is that so far I have just left a little skin scraped off on the street, but my left arm and wrist are very painful. I went to Dra. Marta, who kindly cleaned me up, applied a bandage and gave me bandages and an antibiotic. Tomorrow I will see my regular doctor in Barra for follow-up.
First, I want to make it clear that JoAnna and I were not walking in the street, but were crossing to the other side. The young man was driving so fast that I neither heard him coming until he was right there, nor had time to move out of his path, on the left side of the street. The mariachi band was crossing the street in the opposite direction and one of them helped me up, while others checked me out for broken limbs.
Second, I want to thank all the people who helped me, the mariachi folks, and especially JoAnna, who took the situation in hand and saw to it that a message was taken to get someone to call the police, and Rhema, who went to the station to alert the police. Also Pedro, the delegado, who showed up quickly and expressed his concern and desire to help, Anastasia, who helped translating, and the police who handled everything In a compassionate and efficient manner.
When the police asked me if I wanted to have the young man put in jail, I said no, as I believe that would not have been constructive for either of us. I said all I want was for the young man to know he was going way too fast, and that not only others, but he himself could have had a much worse accident due to his excessive speed. I was assured that the young man would pay my doctor's bills.
I know I will be hurting for quite awhile, so I'm posting this message so that others might benefit from my painful experience. I'm grateful it wasn't worse for me, but I still bounce pretty well, or should I say slide pretty well. Imagine what could have happened had a child or smaller person been hit. Without sounding too defensive, I want to add that, as a bicyclist in town, I do pay attention to traffic, especially when I'm walking, and we had had nothing alcoholic to drink. I had done the night shift at the book store, JoAnna came by, and we agreed to go out for dinner.
We're very fortunate to live in this lovely pueblo and have the police here, our wonderful friends and neighbors, and Pedro..
PS. Thanks also to Lidia and the wonderful woman at her store who applied some salve to my scraped shoulder. And, Lidia had sandals for sale to replace the one that was ripped off my foot, so that I didn't have to walk barefoot very far. Didn't mean to write a treatise, but so much needs to be said.
Love you all, Saralynn
